What Is NIMRC?

Role of NIMRC

NIMRC is a special initiative of the National Health Care for the Homeless Council whose primary focus is on expanding medical respite care programs in the U.S. Launched on July 15, 2020, NIMRC is a singular national institute that advances best practices, delivers expert consulting services, and disseminates state-of-field knowledge in medical respite care. NIMRC’s vast repository of principles and practices are delivered by internal staff, external subject matter experts, and consulting teams that together provide training and technical support, consumer-involved and community-based research, state-centered and federal level policy briefings, legislative and administrative advocacy, philanthropic services, and communications support.

Bobby Watts, CEO of the National Health Care for the Homeless Council and Director of the National Institute for Medical Respite Care

If you don’t have a place to live, you have to deal with that illness, but without any comforts or even necessities. In the richest country in the world, it’s a human tragedy of colossal proportions. Medical respite care provides a literal lifeline for many people without homes.
