Role of NIMRC
NIMRC is a special initiative of the National Health Care for the Homeless Council whose primary focus is on expanding medical respite/recuperative care programs in the U.S. Launched on July 15, 2020, NIMRC is a singular national institute that advances best practices, delivers expert consulting services, and disseminates state-of-field knowledge in medical respite/recuperative care. NIMRC’s vast repository of principles and practices are delivered by internal staff, external subject matter experts, and consulting teams that together provide training and technical support, consumer-involved and community-based research, state-centered and federal level policy briefings, legislative and administrative advocacy, philanthropic services, and communications support.
If you don’t have a place to live, you have to deal with that illness, but without any comforts or even necessities. In the richest country in the world, it’s a human tragedy of colossal proportions. Medical respite/recuperative care provides a literal lifeline for many people without homes.
